Save Time and Money June 20, 2010 Jennifer Flanders Twenty years ago, when I was newly-wed and had a lot more time than money, I adhered to a overwhelmingly complex system of couponing in order to shave every cent I could off our grocery bills. As our bankroll grew and our free-time shrank, that system was gradually abandoned along the way. What I like most about this book is that it shows you how to save money even if you haven't much time to spend clipping coupons. "Busy" shoppers will learn how a mere five minutes of planning before a shopping trip can reduce their grocery bill by 20-25%, even if they never touch a pair of scissors. "Rookie" shoppers will learn new tips to shave their grocery bill by 40-50% by redeeming manufacturer's coupons when products are already on sale. And veteran couponers will learn how to combine these saving strategies with advertised specials, electronic coupons, clearance sales, and rebate offers to "make every bite a bargain" and routinely save up to 90% off their grocery bill. The author's methods are very user friendly, no matter what your shopping style. Even if you adopt only one or two of her suggestions, apply them faithfully and you will quickly earn back the cost of the book.

Very detailed and awesome book! March 16, 2010 TC (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm new at couponing and this book was recommened by several coupon blogs. I ordered it from Amazon.com and received it in 3 days and it was worth every penny, around $20.00 retail price! This book taught me several ways to save by using coupons, about price matching, how to get "paid to shop", and much more. It taught me everything I need to know about couponing. I think this book goes into great detail and tips are explained very well. I highly reccomended this book to every one. I also highly recommend her website, the [...]! She has several videos on her site that take you on shopping with her. It's easy to read and understand. I love this book! The Coupon Mom's Guide to Cutting Your Grocery Bills in Half: The Strategic Shopping Method Proven to Slash Food and Drugstore Costs
Books OK, but Website March 6, 2010 Ralph Blough 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My wife bought the book. She didn't find anything really new and has used coupons for years. Her biggest complaint is that the website wants you to sign up with other sites for coupons. Best thing to do is get a disposable email address for the sign-ups. You are selling your contact info for the discounts.
Couponing and the book will work. Number one rule is that you have to do it! The more effort you put into it the bigger the return. How much extra work do you want to do? How valuable is your time?
This really does work! February 28, 2010 Kelli (SC) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have heard about couponing about 3 months ago and went to a class. It helped me some but having the book itself has been the best thing ever. They taught me the same stuff but it was great to read the book and also to have it when you need to look back over something. I never thought I would cut my bill in half until I actually did. I went to Bi-Lo and before coupons and the bonus card it was $209.85, after the coupons it was $159.43 and after all was done I ended up paying $123.59. Almost half, I am satisfied but still working hard. This was only my second big shopping trip since I started this. This book is really worth purchasing. Good Luck!

| Worthwhile Reading | Three Tips to Help Planning Retirement By Brenda Cyr
Thinking about retirement is not usually on the top of our list of things to do. Then suddenly we reach the point in out life when retirement is close to becoming a reality. At that point, you really need help in planning your retirement. Sure, we think about it from time to time, but never take any action on our thoughts. Don't let lack of action destroy your retirement, and leave you working well into your seventies. Use these three tips to help plan your retirement and to get started today.
1. Be Realistic about Retirement. Most people don't take the time to sit down and figure out how much money they will need for their retirement. Here is an easy way to plan what you'll need for retirement. Take the amount of money you are now living on per year, and subtract the amount of money you can save once the kids move out, and you downsize to a smaller home and car. Take that amount and multiply it by how many years you think you will need to live on your savings. The average life expectancy is 80 years.
2. Make a Budget. This will be one of the biggest helpers for planning retirement finances. Take out a sheet of paper and write down all your monthly expenses. Include your utilities, credit cards, groceries, and everything that you spend money on through the month. Make sure that you add a set amount for retirement savings. The next step is to subtract this amount from your take home income. Do you have anything left over? If you do, that is excellent. You can use these savings for a rainy day account.
3. Cut Back on Expenses. You already knew this was coming. You have a budget, and know what you are spending; now it's time to see where you can cut back so you can put more money into your retirement account. You don't have to cut out all the luxuries in your life, but you might find that by renting movies more often, rather than taking the family to the theater will let you enjoy more luxuries when you retire.
These three tips will help you get started saving for your retirement. Of course, there are many resources available to help planning for retirement. There are many aspects of retirement to consider as well- your health, your social life, your leisure activities and hobbies. By following these three tips, you will be taking action to help you plan for the best retirement possible.

The share of workers who are in both a defined benefit and defined contribution plan has remained fairly constant over the years.
